Learning the Craft in Tokyo
The journey began in 2010 after years of working in Japanese kitchens across the country. Owner Yukari Watanabe traveled to Tokyo twice to train with a close friend who owned a shop there. She learned the true art of making skewers and special dishes from an expert. By visiting with her mother and relatives, she stayed close to her roots. She brought these skills back to her home in Ventura to start something very special.
A Different Way to Eat Japanese
This is not your usual sushi joint. You will not find basic rolls here. Instead, we serve authentic Kushiyaki and small plates. This means we grill chicken, meats, and vegetables on skewers over a fire. We take great pride in offering unique food that is hard to find nearby. Every night, we offer rotating specials that are not on the regular menu. There is always something new and fresh to try when you walk through our doors.
